1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using StyleMyPaper ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

StyleMyPaper is a service of Mae Raaki LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company.

2. Description of Service

StyleMyPaper is an automated academic document formatting service. We help students, researchers, and academics format their papers according to style guidelines (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.). AI is used only to help analyze your document's structure. Formatting corrections follow the style rules themselves and never alter your writing.

How Our Service Works

1. You upload your document
2. Our AI analyzes the document structure (headings, references, tables, figures, etc.)
3. Our formatting engine applies the appropriate style rules
4. You download your formatted document

AI Processing Disclosure

We use Claude, an AI assistant developed by Anthropic, to analyze your document structure. This analysis identifies elements like headings, paragraphs, citations, tables, and figures.

Important Disclaimers

• You are responsible for reviewing your formatted documents before submission
• We do not guarantee formatting will be 100% accurate or meet all institutional requirements
• We are not responsible for academic outcomes, grades, or rejection of papers
• Style guide rules are subject to interpretation, and institutional requirements may vary

3. User Accounts

Registration

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your password
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Paper Credits and Projects

Your account may include paper credits, which are used to process documents:

• Credits are allocated based on your subscription tier or purchase
• Each document processing consumes credits based on page count
• Unused credits expire according to your plan terms (see Section 4)
• Credits are non-transferable between accounts

Academic Integrity

You represent that:

• Documents you upload are your own original work or you have rights to them
• You will not use our service to facilitate academic dishonesty
• You understand that formatting assistance does not constitute academic misconduct

4. Pricing, Subscriptions, and Payment

Subscription Tiers

Dissertation Packages (One-Time Purchase)

Human Review Sessions

Human review sessions provide 20-minute live Zoom sessions with a formatting expert:

• Single Session: $99
• 3-Pack: $249 ($83/session)
• 5-Pack: $399 ($80/session)
• Sessions must be scheduled via our booking system
• Sessions expire 12 months from purchase

Add-On Papers

• Scholar Add-On Paper: $29.99 (up to 25 pages)
• Graduate Add-On Paper: $59.99 (up to 50 pages)
• Add-on papers expire 12 months from purchase

Note: Add-on pricing is intentionally higher per-paper than subscription rates to encourage subscription upgrades.

Automatic Renewal

To cancel auto-renewal:

• Go to Account Settings → Subscription
• Click "Cancel Subscription"
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
• You retain access until the period ends

Payment Terms

• All prices are in US Dollars
• Payment is processed securely through Stripe
• You are responsible for any applicable taxes
• Prices may change with 30 days notice for existing subscribers

5. Refund Policy

How to Request a Refund

Email support@stylemypaper.com with:

• Your account email
• Order/subscription ID
• Reason for refund request

We aim to process refund requests within 5 business days.

6. Payment Failures and Grace Period

If a subscription payment fails:

1. Immediate: We attempt to charge your payment method
2. Day 1-7 (Grace Period):
   • Your access continues uninterrupted
   • We send email reminders to update payment
   • You can update payment method in Account Settings
3. After Day 7:
   • Subscription is suspended
   • Access limited to Free tier features
   • Document history preserved for 90 days
4. After 90 days: Account may be deactivated

To reactivate a suspended subscription, update your payment method and we will attempt to charge the outstanding balance.

7. Document Handling and Privacy

Your Content

You retain all rights to your documents. By uploading documents, you grant us a limited license to:

• Process and format your documents
• Store your documents securely
• Transmit your documents to our AI provider for structural analysis

This license terminates when you delete your documents or close your account.

AI Processing

By using our Service, you consent to your documents being analyzed by AI (Claude by Anthropic) for structural analysis purposes. This includes:

• Document structure detection
• Reference and citation identification
• Table and figure recognition
• Formatting pattern analysis

Your document content is:

• Transmitted securely (encrypted in transit)
• Not stored by Anthropic beyond processing
• Not used for AI model training

Data Retention

• Your documents: Kept in your account until you delete them or delete your account. This is the same on every plan, and whether your subscription is active or cancelled
• You may delete documents at any time through your account dashboard

8. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Upload malicious files or code
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Circumvent any access controls or usage limits
• Resell or redistribute the service without authorization
• Upload documents you don't have rights to
• Use automated systems to access the service without permission

9. Intellectual Property

Our Property

StyleMyPaper, including its design, features, and content (excluding your documents), is owned by Mae Raaki LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.

Your Property

You retain all intellectual property rights to your documents. We claim no ownership of your academic work.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mae Raaki LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Content you upload to the Service

13. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution First

Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@stylemypaper.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, any dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.

• Arbitration will be conducted in English
• Arbitration may be conducted remotely (video/phone)
• The arbitrator's decision is final and binding
• Judgment may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction

Exceptions

The following may be brought in court:

• Small claims court actions (within jurisdictional limits)
• Intellectual property disputes
• Requests for injunctive relief

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. Termination

By You

You may close your account at any time through Account Settings or by emailing support@stylemypaper.com.

Upon termination:

• Subscription access ends at current period's end (if cancelled mid-period)
• Unused credits are forfeited
• Documents are deleted within 30 days
• Dissertation package access ends immediately unless otherwise stated

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Fail to pay after grace period
• Abuse the service or our staff

We will provide notice when reasonable, but may act immediately for serious violations.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time.

For material changes:

• We will notify you via email at least 30 days before changes take effect
• We will post a notice on the Service
• Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance

For non-material changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date
• Changes take effect immediately upon posting

16. Miscellaneous

Severability

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StyleMyPaper.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.

Assignment

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign our rights to any successor or acquirer.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, government actions, or internet outages.
